Coming from Russian designer Evgeny Tkachev, these pixels were put together before the said confirmation. However, the penning master seems to have gotten things right, integrating more than a few styling cues from the Taycan.
In fact, this rendering seems to take the design of the Panamera-like EV and spread it over the bulkier body of a crossover, with the relationship between the two resembling the one that connects the Tesla Model X to the Model S that came before it.
Truth be told, I hope Zuffenhausen designers go one step further when it comes to disguising the heigh of the upcoming crossover.
After all, everybody will compare this to the Macan, especially since, as it has also been confirmed, the two will overlap for a few years. As such, the Macan EV is set to make its debut in 2021, while the internal combustion engine version may soldier on until 2023.
This duality was the obvious choice and there are multiple reasons for which the German automotive producer decided to go down this path. For one thing, we’re talking about a segment that qualifies as Porsche’s best-seller and you can risk sales by trying to convince everybody to switch to the plug.
Then there’s the fact that, as it has been the case with the Taycan, the Turbo version(s) of the electric crossover will arrive first, which mean that customers with a tighter budget will still have to go for the base ICE Macans.
And while we’re talking high-riding Porsche EVs, here’s to hoping the confirmed second body style of the Taycan will maintain the generous ground clearance of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept.
