Porsche Recalls More Than 6,000 Taycans Over Child Seat Installation Concerns

The center-rear seat belt buckle wiring harness in some Porsche Taycans is at fault

• The recall affect Taycans sold in both Canada and the US.
• The issue is that child seats may not secure properly.

If you own a 2020 or 2021 Porsche Taycan, live in Canada or the US, and ordered the optional central rear seat, your car may be affected by this recall.

The issue, which also affects the seriously attractive Taycan Cross Turismo, is said to be caused by an incorrectly installed wiring harness:

“On certain vehicles, the wiring harness for the center-rear seat belt buckle could interfere with the lower universal anchorage system (UAS) for securing a child seat. As a result, you may not be able to properly attach a child seat in the right-rear seat using the UAS.”

Porsche first discovered the problem in July of 2021 and immediately implemented the necessary changes on the production line according to Drive Tesla Canada. So far, no complaints or incidents have been reported with regards to the seat belt buckle wiring harness.

The Transport Canada Recall states that: “Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the wiring harness for the center-rear seat belt buckle. The wiring will be re-routed and secured, as necessary.”

There are 778 Porsche Taycans affected in Canada with a further 5,305 involved in the US.
