The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a high-performance electric sports car that was introduced in 2019. It is the range-topping model of the Porsche Taycan lineup and features a more powerful electric motor and battery pack than the other models. The Taycan Turbo S can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 160 mph. It also has a range of up to 225 miles on a single charge.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a great choice for anyone looking for an electrifying driving experience. It’s fast, fun to drive, and environmentally friendly.
After Tesla began to dominate the global market for electric vehicles, it was clear that Porsche also had something to contribute to the conversation. Driving characteristics, quality, dynamics, and cornering capabilities are all developed through racing, and Mr. Musk is not really known for such endeavors, unlike Porsche, which has been conquering the world’s racetracks for 70 years.
It is evident from the beginning that the Taycan Turbo S is comparable to luxury brands such as Bentley, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. However, none of these other companies offer numbers close to what the Taycan Turbo S provides. With an impressive 761 horsepower and 1050 Nm of torque, this car exceeds expectations and defies comparison.
Design
As far as appearance is concerned, it is a sports sedan with a concept most similar to the Panamera but with much more attractive lines. There is no need to waste words on attractiveness because it looks really unreal on the road, which is easy to notice from the faces of other road users.
The black color hides the muscular and elegant lines, so the details do not come to the fore. The low silhouette with the characteristic headlights makes it even more dynamic than the Panamera, and in fact, in some details, it “pulls” from the 911 as well.
It is significantly more elegant than the Panamera in the rear, where the LED lights dominate and make it at the same time elegant but also a little scary, sometimes resembling a stealth fighter jet. The vehicle’s significant size is masked by its rounded lines and large wheels. Behind these features are the carbon ceramic brakes, which measure 16.5 inches in diameter up front and 16.1 inches in the back. The brake setups use 10-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. There’s a small trunk in the front that can hold 84 liters and an even bigger one in the back that has space for 366 liters.
The Interior
The Taycan’s interior is modern and sleek, with TFT screens and a minimalist “gearbox” design. The materials and workmanship are top-notch, as you would expect from Porsche. The seats are excellently profiled and comfortable, easily accommodating four people.
We won’t list much from the equipment because it would take up too much time and space, but you probably know that no matter what the top model in the range is, Porsche will still manage to upsell you a lot of (expensive) accessories that you can’t live without.
A few of the many accessories include PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control), adaptive cruise control with assistance for traffic jams, 4-zone climate control, and ambient lighting, onboard DC charger of 150 kW, panoramic roof, seat ventilation, heat, and sound-insulated windows just to name a standard few.
When they tallied up all the features, they came to the car’s final value of $190,000. The Taycan can be charged from 5% to 80% in 22 minutes with the world’s first 800 V system and 270 kW of power.
Driving The Beast
Porsche offers two engines that develop 626 hp in “normal” modes. There is also a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle. In these same normal modes (meaning all except Sport +), the Taycan drives all the time in “second gear,” although you would never say that from the performance. The incredible amount of power available makes driving a completely different experience, especially since there is almost no engine noise. If you want it, you can turn the sound on and create an even more strange impression in the cabin; though pleasant, you know that the sound is not real.
Porsche has pushed the limits of physics yet again with its new electric car. Despite weighing in at 2.3 tons, the car is extremely agile and responsive, thanks to its Torque Vectoring system and complex suspension.
Driving at lower speeds, the Taycan Turbo S will behave like a polished limousine. However, if there is an obstacle in front of you in the form of another car or a tow truck, one light push on the gas pedal will get you out of the trouble elegantly.
If you want to drive a little faster, you can switch to Sport mode, and the gas pedal will become more sensitive, and the feeling of acceleration will be even better.
A fully charged Taycan Turbo S has a realistic range of 225 miles, which makes it even usable for road trips if you know where you will be able to fill it up safely and quickly.
Sport + Mode
If you need a speed boost, you could switch the Taycan Turbo S into Sport + mode. You’ll be able to press the brake pedal with your left foot while stepping on the gas pedal all the way down with your right. The gearbox will change to “first gear,” and the power will increase from 626 hp to 761 hp. This launch will take you 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. It takes this electric vehicle only 6 seconds to hit 100 mph, with a top speed of 160 mph.
